Dear Friends

Dear Friends of our Troops,

Received via email on 8-15-06: I received the boxes and handed them out to the company. Everyone really enjoyed the care packages and quite a few people commented on how nice they were.

Thank you very much for the packages.

Please pass on my thanks and the thanks of the 452nd Ordnance Company to everyone
that volunteered their time in assembling these packages. We really appreciate your support. -Tracey (aka SGT Jones)

The Operation: Care and Comfort holiday season has officially kicked off! In September and early October, we begin to ship packages with autumn themes. October brings Thanksgiving themes, and Christmas, Hanukkah, etc. begin in November. Hard to believe, but Christmas is coming soon, especially when we must prepare so far ahead in order to get packages to our Troops before the holidays hit.

Let the season begin! We started our drive on Saturday, Sept. 2nd with a Support our Troops rally and donation drive. Roberta and her Operation: Care and Comfort Elves had a successful day, collecting monetary and items donations! Our own Cookie did a great job promoting the event on NBC11, and the response was great. Thanks to Albertsons at Pruneridge for hosting this event!

We've made many changes to our original web site, and added a new one... www.troopfest.org, devoted to the upcoming TroopFest 2006 festival and benefit concert. The www.operationcareandcomfort.org web site has a new section for service members seeking support, and it has been very popular! Our events page is better than ever, with care package assemblies and other events posted through the end of 2006. We are also adding pages for two of our volunteer teams that have been helping Operation: Care and Comfort for over three years each, assembling packages every month! They are Operation Yellow Ribbon Monterey, and soon, Families Serving the Military. We will also add volunteer pages and letters and emails from our Troops. We hope that these changes will be beneficial to our Troops, their families, our volunteers and donors!

We are going to have a very busy month, with a lot of opportunity for folks to get involved in many ways! Please help us spread the word. We need volunteers for many of these activities, as we plan to raise much needed funds to ship tens of thousands of pounds of care packages to our Troops, now through December!
