Hi there

Here is a great group of pictures from over there in the sand boxes that I think you will enjoy. I want to thank my friend Ken Leoutsacos for sending them to me............. I remember when I was in units that had this type of Esprit de Corp. I hope you all have been there, done that. A lot of us started smoking during our military days. I am glad that I finally kicked the habit "COLD TURKEY" in 1989. Thanks Ken. A lot of our folks have been over there and back. After you finish, please tell me the one thing that you noticed in most of these pictures, besides the Cigars.......................YFFL, Paul

This is a RIOT! One of my guys sent pictures to our most popular on-line cigar store! Click the link:

Paul Whitefield's Essay in The Los Angeles Times
Posted by Hugh Hewitt 7:16 PM

Paul Whitefield's op-ed in yesterday's Los Angeles Times hits a low point even for that rapidly collapsing paper.

Judge for yourself, but the Vietnam veterans who called the program today after I read it in its entirety were not amused.

Mr. Whitefield declined the opportunity to appear on the program.
You can cancel you subscription via 1-800-252-9141.

It is possible that Mr. Whitefield is a 60-something Vietnam vet, but I am betting he's around 30, graduated from a small liberal arts college, and knows no one in the military today, much less any Vietnam veterans.

My other guess is that his e-mail is paul.whitefield@latimes.com.

You’re in CA, get all your friends to boycott this guys paper and write letters to the editor. It’s just wrong.

If you can think of anybody who might like to have their names on one ormore of the Iraq talk show webpages after I get back in about twoweeks.. the sponsorship for that is $100 per Iraq Talk Show InterviewSegment. This is really important.

People who feel led to be a part of helping us bring these incredibleinterviews to the American people can help by going through our Become A Sponsor page on the website www.talkingwithheroes.com .... throughthe level two sponsorship page.

Everything left as far as funds went into this second trip to Iraq. When I left this time for Iraq I had to leave the apartment I was in there in Colorado Springs and all the Talking with Heroes equipment and stuff and personal stuff is in a storage room. As of the moment I do not have aplace to go to when I get back. I figure God got us here.... got usthrough three long convoys and a foot patrol, freezing and much more....raising the money for a place to stay when I get back is easy.

As you know Susan with you being a sponsor yourself (thank you:) thevisibility we offer in exchange for financial help stays on ourtalkingwithheroes.com website for a long time. Got to run...I appreciate so much your friendship, prayers and support.

Don't Close Your Blinds

The other day, my nine year old son wanted to know why we were at war.My husband looked at our son and then looked at me. My husband and Iwere in the Army during the Gulf War and we would be honored to serveand defend our Country again today. I knew that my husband would givehim a good explanation. My husband thought for a few minutes and thentold my son to go stand in our front living room window.

He said "Son, stand there and tell me what you see?"

"I see trees and cars and our neighbor's houses." he replied.

"OK, now I want you to pretend that our house and our yard is the United States of America and you are President Bush.

"Our son giggled and said "OK."

"Now I want you to stand there and look out the window and pretend yousee Saddam come out of his house with his wife, he has her by the hairand is hitting her. You see her bleeding and crying. He hits her in theface, he throws her on the ground, then he starts to kick her to death.Their children run out and are afraid to stop him, they are screamingand crying, they are watching this but do nothing because they are kidsand they are afraid of their father. You see all of this, son....what doyou do?"

"What do you do son?"

"I'd call the police, Dad."

"OK. Pretend that the police are the United Nations. They take yourcall. They listen to what you know and saw but they refuse to help. Whatdo you do then son?"

"Dad.......... But the police are supposed to help!" My son starts towhine.

"They don't want to son, because they say that it is not their place oryour place to get involved and that you should stay out of it," myhusband says.

"But Dad...he killed her!!" my son exclaims.

"I know he did...but the police tell you to stay out of it. Now I wantyou to look out that window and pretend you see our neighbor who you'repretending is Saddam turn around and do the same thing to his children."

"Daddy...he kills them?"

"Yes son, he does. What do you do?"

"Well, if the police don't want to help, I will go and ask my next doorneighbor to help me stop him." our son says.

"Son, our next door neighbor sees what is happening and refuses to getinvolved as well. He refuses to open the door and help you stop him," myhusband says.

"But Dad, I NEED help!!! I can't stop him by myself!!"

"WHAT DO YOU DO SON?" Our son starts to cry.

"OK, no one wants to help you, the man across the street saw you ask forhelp and saw that no one would help you stop hi m. He stands taller andpuffs out his chest. Guess what he does next son?"

"What Daddy?"

"WHAT DO YOU DO?" Our son is crying and he looks down and he whispers,"I'd close the blinds, Daddy."

My husband looks at our son with tears in his eyes and asks him. "Why?"

"Because Daddy.....the police are supposed to help people who needsthem...and they won't help.... You always say that neighbors aresupposed to HELP neighbors, but they won't help either...they won't helpme stop him...I'm afraid....I can't do it by myself Daddy.....I can'tlook out my window and just watch him do all these terrible thingsand...and.....do nothing...so....I'm just going to close the blinds....So I can't see what he's doing..and I'm going to pretend that it is nothappening."

I start to cry. My husband looks at our nine year old son standing inthe window, looking pitifu l and ashamed at his answers to my husband'squestions and he says...

"Open the blinds because that man.... he's at your front door... "WHATDO YOU DO?"

My son looks at his father, anger and defiance in his eyes. He balls uphis tiny fists and looks his father square in the eyes, withouthesitation he says: " I DEFEND MY FAMILY DAD!! I'M NOT GONNA LET HIMHURT MOMMY OR MY SISTER, DAD!!! I'M GONNA FIGHT HIM, DAD, I'M GONNAFIGHT HIM!!!!!"
"Yes, Daddy."

I see a tear roll down my husband's cheek and he grabs our son to hischest and hugs him tight, and says... " It's too late to fight him, he'stoo strong and he's already at YOUR front door son.....you should havestopped him BEFORE he killed his wife, and his children and the old ladyacross the way. You have to do what's right, even if you have to do italone, before its too late." my husband whispers. THAT scenario I justgave you is WHY we are at war with Iraq. When good men stand by and letevil happen son, THAT is the greatest atrocity in the world. "YOU MUSTNEVER BE AFRAID TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT EVEN IF YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALONE!" BEPROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! BE PROUD OF OUR TROOPS!! SUPPORT THEM!!!SUPPORT AMERICA SO THAT IN THE FUTURE OUR CHILDREN WILL NEVER HAVE TOCLOSE THEIR BLINDS..."

This should be printed in every newspaper and posted in every school inAmerica. Of course that won't happen so we'll use the internet. If yourblinds are closed do nothing with this . If they are open I do not needto tell you what to do.

GOD BLESS!!!!!!!!!!

And I thank every soldier that fights for this country.

A young Marine officer was in a serious car accident, but the only visible permanent injury was to both of his ears, which were amputated. Since he wasn't physically impaired he remained in the MarineS and eventually rose to the rank of General. He was, however very sensitive about his appearance. One day the General was interviewing three Marines for his personal aide. The first was an aviator, and it was a great interview. At the end of the interview the General asked him, "Do you notice anything different about me?"

The young officer answered," why yes, sir. I couldn't help but notice that you have no ears." The general got very angry at the lack of tact and threw him out.

The second interview was with a femaleLieutenant, and she was even better. The General asked her the same question, "Do you notice anything different about me?"

She replied, "Well, sir, you have no ears." The General threw her out also. The third interview was with a Marine Gunny. He was articulate, looked extremely sharp and seemed to know more than the two officers combined (surprise).

The General wanted this guy, and went ahead with the same question, "Do you notice anything different about me?"

To his surprise the Gunny said, "Yes sir; you wear contacts lenses."

The General was very impressed and thought, what an incredibly observant Gunny, and he didn't mention my ears. "And how do you know that I wear contacts?" The General asked.

The sharp-witted Gunny replied, "Well, sir, it's pretty hard to wear glasses with no freaking ears."
